Hi everyone, there are two events happening in Indianapolis this week that I will be a participating in.
To Routine Wonders: Group Print Exhibit

The first is the risograph print exhibition To Routine Wonders opening today, Monday 8/31 until this, Friday 9/4. The theme for the collect work of 20+ artists is “how routine wonders influence or show up in your art practice, what intricacies around you catch your eye, and what lives within the world of your creative practice? What do you treasure? How are your values represented in your work?”
The East Indy Arts Walk is on Friday and will have Re:Public as a stop on the itinerary. There will be a risograph postcard making workshop during the evening on Friday so check it out!
My art practice is reverence to the natural force. Much of my inspiration comes from living with the White River and from the beings who live here as well. This is River Spirit, a drawing of my coyote neighbor who had passed way and was laid to rest under the water surface. My piece will be printed by Alec, the event organizer, and I will get to see it for the first time at the exhibit.

Risograph screens for three colors: Seafoam, Flat Gold and Yellow
My long time friend Arii of AW Designs will also have a piece displayed called Wanderlust. It is her first time submitting to an art exhibit and I had a lot of fun helping her set up her color separations!
I can’t wait to see how these look once they are printed. I will share a follow up post with photos of the event.
Anaphora Poetry + Publishing Conference

Then, Saturday 9/5 will be the annual Anaphora Poetry and Publishing Conference at the 38th St Indianapolis Public Library. This is the location with local zines that can be checked out by the catalog system!
Kelsey of Authentic Resource organizes Anaphora Poets Society, and they have poetry nights at CAMi if you are interested. Saturday is the big community event for the year!
Last year I launched Dreams of the Now during Anaphora. I will have limited-edition riso copies available at the event. (Right now, they are not on my online shop because they are bound together with a little stick – too fragile to send via mail.)
Now that I think about it, the first year I attended, I launched Pandemonium: Collected Covid Works.
I am slowly working on a poetry zine that’s been a long time coming, How to Bypass the Closed Loop. It features poems and drawings collected over the last couple decades themed around mental health. Perhaps I will come with a couple poems to read at the event even though the zine is a work in progress.
See you this week! -Ren
